How much does SEO cost per month? Belgian prices and models

How much does SEO cost per month in Belgium? Prices Belgian providers publish, the four pricing models, what doing it yourself costs and how to read a quote.

Belgian providers that publish their prices charge for ongoing SEO from about €150 to €300 per month for narrow packages to €2,000 or more for competitive programmes [1], [2], [3]. For an SME the ranges usually lie between €400 and €1,500 per month, excluding VAT [2], [3]. An audit costs a few hundred euros, an hour of SEO work €75 to €150 [1], [3].

Whether you do it yourself, bring in a freelancer or hire an SEO agency, compare what happens every month, not just the amount. For €500 a month one provider gives you a report, another four reworked pages and a technical clean-up.

ClickForest [4]SEO from €700 per month, SEO and GEO from €950; audit from €595; minimum three monthsNone

samtech [2]Technical audit from €350 excl. VAT; implementation €1,250 to €3,500; follow-up from €150 per monthSME €400 to €1,500 per month; competitive or international from €2,500
PP Digital [3]Local SEO starter €295 per month, minimum three monthsSME €500 to €1,000; competitive €1,000 to €2,000; hourly €75 to €150

The ranges overlap: around €500 to €1,000 per month for an SME, most providers agree. The lowest amounts belong to deliberately narrow packages, such as follow-up only or one region, not to the same work for less. These are still prices that providers publish about themselves and their market; I haven't found an independent Belgian price study on SEO.

Where the price difference comes from

An SEO price is a sum of hours, spread over four blocks of work. Your site determines how much each block takes:

  • Technology: indexing, speed, structure, redirects. A lot of work with an old or slow site, a migration or an online store with thousands of URLs.
  • Content: keyword research, rewriting pages, new pages. A lot of work with many services or a busy market.
  • Authority: mentions and links from relevant sites. A lot of work if your competitors have had strong sites for years.
  • Local and measurement: Google Business Profile, reviews, Search Console and GA4. A lot of work with several locations or broken tracking.

In Belgium a second language often comes on top. French is not a translation but a second search market, with its own keywords, competitors and pages, and that can almost double the content block.

Which pricing model, and what is not included?

  • Hourly rate: handy for a defined question, such as reviewing a migration. Unpredictable for ongoing work.
  • Monthly fee: the usual model for ongoing SEO. The risk is routine, with a report but no visible work.
  • Project: a technical clean-up or a new structure as a foundation. After that the work stops, and in a busy market so does the growth.
  • Audit: an action list that is only worth something once someone implements it. Ask in advance who does that and what it costs.

Often not included in the price: implementation on your website by your web developer, the number of pages that "content" means, tools and a second language. Also ask where links come from: links bought to influence your ranking fall under Google's spam policies [5]. And most amounts are excluding VAT, standard rate 21% [6].

A subsidy through the Flemish SME wallet (kmo-portefeuille) is no longer an option for SEO advice. Since 1 February 2026 the advice pillar only supports cybersecurity; training within the recognised themes is still supported [7].

What to expect, and when

We count on three to six months for the first movement and a year for structural growth; other Belgian providers cite similar timelines [4], [1]. So compare the cost of the first six months, and agree what you should see in that period:

Milestones in an SEO programme and where to check them
WhenWhat you should seeWhere you see it
Month 1Baseline, priority list, first technical errors fixedThe report, Search Console
Months 2 to 3Improved and new pages indexed, more impressionsSearch Console
Months 3 to 6Better rankings on specific search terms, first extra clicksSearch Console
Months 6 to 12More enquiries or sales from organic trafficGA4 or your CRM

If you see no milestone at all after three months, ask why. Google publishes its own questions for anyone considering an SEO provider [8]. Supplemented with what matters in Belgium:

  • What results do you expect, within what timeframe, and how do you measure them?
  • What concretely happens every month, and who does it?
  • What experience do you have in my sector and region, and in French?
  • What is the contract term, and do the content, Search Console and Business Profile stay mine if I cancel?

Three red flags from the same source: a guaranteed first place ("No one can guarantee a #1 ranking on Google"), a claimed "special relationship" with Google, and a request to link from your site to the SEO provider [8]. If someone asks for access to Search Console for an audit, only give read access [8].

Doing it yourself, or when does SEO pay for itself?

If you run a small local business, according to Google you can do much of the work yourself [8], with Google's SEO Starter Guide as a starting point [9]. The basic tools are free: Search Console [10], and the Screaming Frog crawler up to 500 URLs [11]. A paid suite like Semrush costs $139.95 per month on the entry plan [12].

The real cost of doing it yourself is time, and mistakes such as a site move without redirects or copied pages for each municipality. Start with keyword research, and for customers in your own region with local SEO.

Whether a quote pays for itself, you test with two calculations:

  • How many extra customers do you need? Divide the cost of the first six months by your gross margin per new customer. €900 per month is €5,400 over six months: at a €1,500 margin per customer you need four extra customers.
  • What would this traffic cost in Google Ads? Multiply your organic clicks on non-brand search terms from Search Console [10] by the cost per click from Keyword Planner [13]. 400 clicks at €2 is €800 per month; how those click prices come about is in how much does Google Ads cost in Belgium.

What SEO costs at Izoard

We don't give a starting price out of thin air, for the reason this article explains: the work depends on your site. You get a fixed monthly fee tailored to you, which we only propose after a free SEO scan. It looks at six points, from technology and indexing to your visibility in AI answers, and only needs your URL.

SEO is not part of the SME Machine 500; that package covers Google Ads and Meta Ads. And sometimes SEO is not the best use of your money right now: if your site is so old or slow that every improvement is built on sand, a new one comes first. What that costs is set out by my colleague Bert in how much does a website cost.

Frequently asked questions

What is a normal hourly rate for SEO?

Belgian providers cite €75 to €150 per hour for an SEO specialist or consultant. An hourly rate suits a clearly defined assignment or an audit, and is less suited to ongoing work.

Can SEO be a one-off?

An audit or a technical project can be a one-off, and for a small local site with little competition that is sometimes enough. If you want to grow in a busy market, you need ongoing work on content, technology and authority.

Can you get a subsidy for SEO through the SME wallet?

Not for advice any more: since 1 February 2026 the advice pillar of the Flemish SME wallet (kmo-portefeuille) only covers cybersecurity. Training within a recognised theme is possible. Check the conditions with VLAIO before you apply.

Can an SEO agency guarantee a first place in Google?

No. Google itself writes that no one can guarantee a first place, and advises you to look elsewhere if someone promises it anyway. Ask instead for a well-founded expectation, visible work and measurement points with a date.
