In Western Europe, LinkedIn costs a median of €73.83 per 1,000 impressions [1]. With typical click-through rates, that is €14 to €27 per click [2], and around €170 per lead via a Lead Gen Form [3]. LinkedIn never charges per lead and requires at least 10 dollars per day [4][5].
So the question isn't whether LinkedIn is expensive, but whether a lead is worth more than it costs. Whether you work in Campaign Manager yourself or with a LinkedIn Ads agency, this calculation shows whether your budget and your expectations match.
When is LinkedIn worth the money?
Calculate it before you start. The maximum cost per lead is your customer value × your margin × the share of leads that become customers.
A contract of €15,000 with a 40% margin yields €6,000. If 5% of your leads become customers, a lead may cost €300, and then LinkedIn pays off even at median prices. With a customer value of €1,500, a lead may only cost €30. Then look at Meta or at what Google Ads costs instead, or use LinkedIn only for a small list of target companies.
How to weigh that up per type of B2B offer is covered in Meta or LinkedIn for B2B leads.
What LinkedIn costs today
LinkedIn charges per click, per 1,000 impressions, per video view or per sent message [4]. The highest bid doesn't automatically win: a relevance score estimates how likely a member is to respond, so a relevant ad gets more out of the same bid [6].
LinkedIn itself doesn't publish average prices. The most useful recent source is the benchmark from the Dutch LinkedIn agency Merkelijkheid, based on B2B campaigns from 2025 in the Netherlands and Western Europe [1][2]. The number of campaigns isn't stated and the agency mainly serves small audiences, so treat the figures as a direction.
| Metric (2025, median) | Value |
|---|---|
| CPM, all campaigns | €73.83 (2023/24: €25.92) [1] |
| CPM, lead generation · website visits · brand awareness | €89.57 · €72.44 · €65.37 [1] |
| CPM, audience under 1,000 · over 10,000 | €107.85 · €61.18 [1] |
| Click-through rate, brand awareness · website visits · lead generation | 0.46% · 0.27% · 0.40% [2] |
According to that source, the price per 1,000 impressions nearly tripled in two years, and small audiences pay almost double what large ones pay [1]. Your effective cost per click is CPM ÷ (click-through rate × 1,000): for website visits €72.44 ÷ 2.7 = about €27, for lead generation €89.57 ÷ 4 = about €22.
A cost per click of €5, as you often read, assumes a click-through rate of 1.4% to 1.8% at the same CPM: three to five times the median. So your click-through rate is your biggest lever, because an ad that gets clicked twice as often halves your cost per click.
From budget to cost per lead
For Lead Gen Forms, which LinkedIn pre-fills with profile data, LinkedIn cites an average completion rate of 13% [3]. At a rounded CPM of €90, €2,000 per month gives about 22,222 impressions:
| Example | Click-through rate | Completion rate | Cost per lead |
|---|---|---|---|
| Median values from the sources | 0.40% | 13% | ~€173 |
| Better ad | 0.70% | 13% | ~€99 |
| Strong ad, short form | 1.00% | 18% | ~€50 |
More important is how many leads become customers. Suppose a quarter qualify and a fifth of those sign: then 5% become customers, and at €99 per lead a customer costs about €1,980 in media. How to set up the form to measure quality is covered in LinkedIn Lead Gen Forms.
How much budget do you need at minimum?
LinkedIn requires at least 10 dollars per day and a 100-dollar lifetime budget for a new ad set [5]. At the median values, 10 per day yields less than one click per day, too little to decide anything after a month.
So work backwards. If you want 20 leads per month, enough to compare two ads, and you estimate ~€99 per lead, you need about €2,000 per month.
The audience counts too. LinkedIn requires at least 300 members per ad set, but recommends at least 50,000, and 300,000 for Sponsored Content and Sponsored Messaging [7]. A sharp Belgian B2B audience often doesn't reach that; how to build it without cutting it to pieces is covered in LinkedIn targeting for B2B.
On top of media, count on creative, measurement with the Insight Tag and management. At Izoard, you pay the media budget directly to LinkedIn and the management fee is separate from it.
Five places where LinkedIn budget leaks
- The LinkedIn Audience Network is switched on automatically for new single image, carousel, document or video ad sets, and also shows your ad outside LinkedIn [8].
- Audience Expansion is switched on automatically where available and shows your ad to members similar to your audience [9].
- Treating the daily budget as a ceiling. LinkedIn may spend up to 100% more on a given day, but never more than 7 times your daily budget per week [10]. If you want a fixed monthly amount, use a lifetime budget.
- An audience of 800 people. Too narrow is expensive and frequency climbs; too broad is cheaper per impression, but more expensive per usable lead.
- A form without qualification. Only name and email brings cheap leads that sales doesn't follow up.

What makes Belgium different
The member count is not active reach. At the end of 2025, LinkedIn's advertising tools counted 6.20 million members in Belgium, but those are registered members, not monthly active users [11].
Profile language works differently from what you think. If you choose English, you reach all members in your location; if you choose Dutch or French, only members with that profile language [12]. So rather split by location and write the ad in the language of that region.
Fewer options in the EU. Since 15 May 2024, you can no longer target groups in the EEA and Switzerland [12]. Message Ads and Conversation Ads there only reach members who chose to receive such messages [13].
VAT. Belgian advertisers buy from LinkedIn Ireland. With a valid VAT number LinkedIn doesn't charge VAT; without one you pay VAT at the rate of your member state [14].
Frequently asked questions
What is the minimum budget for LinkedIn Ads?
At least 10 dollars per day, or the equivalent in your currency, and 100 dollars as a lifetime budget for a new ad set. That is a technical minimum: at current prices in Western Europe it rarely produces enough clicks or leads to learn anything.
Do I pay per lead on LinkedIn?
No. LinkedIn charges per click, per 1,000 impressions, per video view or per sent message, even in a lead campaign. What a lead costs follows from that price and from how many people fill in your form.
Can I run LinkedIn ads in Dutch and French?
Yes, but choose the profile language deliberately. English reaches all members in your location, Dutch or French only members with that profile language. So split by region and write the ad in the language of that region.
Does LinkedIn charge VAT?
Advertisers in the EU outside Ireland who provide a valid VAT number are not charged VAT by LinkedIn Ireland. Without a valid VAT number, you pay VAT at the rate of your member state. How you declare it is something your accountant handles.
